Dell Optiplex GX270 Memory Upgrades

Even a novice can perform Dell Optiplex GX270 memory upgrades. All Dell systems are built with the home user in mind. Removing the computer cover, finding the memory slots, and inserting the memory modules are all intuitive procedures that can be accomplished by anyone. In fact, Dell Optiplex GX270 memory upgrades are so simple that they usually take less than 10 minutes.

Dell Optiplex GX270 can use either 333MHz or 400MHz DDR SDRAM. The size of these modules can range anywhere from 128MB to a full Gigabyte. The more memory you install, the more likely you are to increase the speed of your computer. The Optiplex GX270 will not function with ECC memory.

Installing Dell Optiplex GX270 Memory Upgrades

With the computer turned off and all peripherals unplugged, remove the chassis and ground yourself by touching something metal on the chassis. Flip out the connector clips on the memory slot. Line up the memory card with the slot (there should be a notch in the memory module that lines up with a ridge in the slot) and press straight down. The connector clips should snap back into place. Its literally that simple.

After restarting the computer you will see an alert stating that the computer cover was removed and replaced. Ignore this warning and reset the chassis intrusion detector by changing the setting back to "enabled". Next, open the "System Memory" by pressing F2 and verify that the new memory is working properly. Finally, run "Dell Diagnostics". You should run "Dell Diagnostics" after performing all Dell Optiplex GX270 memory upgrades.
