Dell Latitude Memory

Additional Dell Latitude memory is easy to install. Before you begin installation, make sure that you unplug all peripheral cables, as well as the power cable. You should also remove the battery. To reduce the chance of static charges damaging your Dell Latitude memory module, wear an anti-static wristband.

To access the memory module compartment, flip the notebook upside down and locate the large, square panel with one screw on the computer's base. Unscrew the module cover and lift. There will be a securing clip on each side of the memory module you want to remove Press the clips out and then gently lift the module up. Pull it out and set it aside.

Inserting New Dell Latitude Memory

Gently press the new Dell Latitude memory module into the memory slot. There should be a notch in the memory module that you can use to align it properly. When it is firmly in place, rotate the module down until you hear and feel a click. If the memory module doesnt click, remove it and begin the entire procedure again. After adding the memory, replace the cover and the battery.

Adding memory to the Dell Latitude does have one drawback. Because the Dell ships with both of its memory slots filled (two 256MB DIMMs), upgrading the memory always means buying additional memory and setting aside memory you have already purchased. If you plan on setting aside the discarded memory for future use, be sure to save it in an anti-static pouch.
