Compaq Armada Memory Upgrades

Many people that purchase the Compaq Armada choose to install their own Compaq Armada memory upgrades. The Compaq Armada is a top-of-the-line notebook computer. It is a powerful notebook with space for up to three batteries, but it lags behind a bit in performance categories. Adding a bit of extra RAM makes the Compaq Armada an incredibly powerful business workhorse.

Compaq Armada memory upgrades are not as easy as memory upgrades on other computers because you must first remove the laptop keyboard. Before beginning the installation procedure, first turn the computer off and unplug it, then turn the computer over and remove the security screw. Return the computer upright and, using a paperclip or other small device, press in the four keyboard releases at the top of the keyboard. The keyboard should lift from the back and rotate towards you.

Clearing a Slot for Compaq Armada Memory Upgrades

If you do not have an empty slot already, you will need to remove one of the memory modules currently installed before adding new Compaq Armada memory upgrades. After removing the keyboard, locate the retention clips on either side of the memory module and press them outward. Lift up the memory module until it is at a 45-degree angle and then pull the module towards you.

To add memory, reverse the steps taken to remove memory. Insert the memory module into the slot at a 45 degree angle and then rotate the module down until the retention clips snap back into place. Replace the keyboard and reboot.
